  • Dr. Jay Griffiths, D.V.M., Chief of Staff

    Dr. Griffiths has been in Veterinary Practice since 1985.  He has developed a significant interest in surgery, as well as advanced laser surgery techniques.  Dr. Griffiths helped develop a unique declaw procedure * Phalangeal Disarticulation*.  This technique, especially when coupled with the Laser, has significantly decreased post operative recovery time as well as complications.

    Dr. Griffiths is married to Kathy and they have three children.  Jennifer is 31 and works in Sacramento.  Heather is 30. J.J. is 19 and a Freshman at Grand Canyon University in Arizona. He is studying Pre-Med and is hoping to become a Veterinarian.

    He and his family have four dogs:  English Springer Spaniels: Chelsea, 1 year, Wrangler 1 year, and Faith 12 years. English Golden Retriever: Scout 8 weeks.  They also have two cats: Diamond, 18 years, and Dwade 1 year, the cat's all keep all the dogs in line. They currently have 60 +/- NPGA Registered African Pygmy Goats (kinda like potato chip's, you cannot have just 1) and many colors of Flemish Giant Rabbits.

  • Dr. Gaelin Arbios, DVM, Sunset Animal Medical Center

    Dr. Gaelin Arbios graduated from UC Davis Veterinary School in 1990. Dr. Arbios is a small animal General Practitioner with a special interest in soft tissue surgery and dentistry. Dr. Arbios believes that she has the coolest job in the world because she gets to come to work and enjoy your wonderful dogs and cats every day. She can often be found in the lobby chatting with clients and petting the animals. Outside of the office, Dr. Arbios rides competition dressage and endurance horses and plays the bagpipes with her husband.

    In 2011, Dr. Arbios celebrated twenty years of practice at Sunset Pet Hospital. She can be found in the office Monday through Thursday in the afternoons and evenings.

  • Dr. Linda Wallace, DVM, Sunset Animal Medical Center

    Dr. Wallace graduated from the U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1991 and joined the Sunset Animal Medical Center practice in 1995. She has over 15 years of experience with diagnostic ultrasound. In 2000, she became certified with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in canine and feline practice. Dr. Wallace sees all types of canine and feline cases Monday through Thursday 8AM to 4PM. Her professional special interests include internal medicine and dentistry.

    In her time away from the hospital, Dr. Wallace enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. She is a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo and plays the piano.

  • Dr. Dawn Boman, DVM, La Riviera AMC

    Dr. Boman grew up in southern California and received her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from the University of California, San Diego. Her Master's research involved the study of common bottlenose dolphin and beluga whale immune systems. After receiving her Masters, Dr. Boman spent the next five years doing research in the field of immunology.

    Dr. Boman graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 and came to work at Sunset AMC shortly after. She enjoys working with all species of animals, including dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, rodents, and reptiles. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, snowboarding, SCUBA diving, and spending time with her husband Erik and her pets- Portia, a year old Great Dane and two cats, Jabari and Keah.

    Dr. Chancellor graduated from Michigan State University in 2009 and joined us shortly after. She specializes in General Practice at our Natomas Animal Medical Center location. She is enthusiastic when working with patients and provides the best care possible.

  • Dr. Tina Showler DVM, Sunset Animal Medical Center

    Dr. Tina Showler was born and raised in Switzerland prior to moving to southern California with her family at the age of 13.  She received her Bachelors’ degree in Biological Sciences from UC, Santa Barbara and graduated from UC Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001.  Dr. Showler joined our team in January of 2009 and enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine.

    Dr. Showler, husband Steve and two daughters spend their winter months skiing in Tahoe.  During the summer she enjoys cycling, both road and mountain biking, and often commutes to work on her bike.  Of course, a considerable amount of time is spent with their furry family, Bailey, the red merle Australian shepherd and 3 cats; Silas, Theo and Clancy.

    Dr Robertson is a board certified surgeon who has been on our staff for over ten years. Dr Robertson is one of the few surgeons in Northen California that is certified to perform TPLO (advanced anterior cruciate repair) surgeries. Dr Robertson's interests are advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.

    Kathy is the Chief Financial Officer of the Animal Medical Centers of Sacramento.  She supervises 4 locations to serve our customers and a staff of over 90 employees.  Kathy joined Sunset Animal Medical Center full time in August of 2000.  She had been used on a Consultant basis prior to joining the Practice. Her background is Corporate Sales and Marketing.

She manages our website and pet portals as well as many other office duties. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her dog, Domino at the park, as well as spending time with her family.

    Renee Lockrem is a registered veterinary technician and has been in the industry for about 21 years Renee has worked at Sunset Pet Animal Medical Center for the last 15 years. Renee enjoys working with animals; she also enjoys answering questions about your pet’s treatment and medications.

  • Amber Ross, RVT

    Amber Ross has been a licensed registered veterinary technician since 2001. She has worked at Sunset Animal Medical Center since 2004. She has a dedicated interest in anesthesia and dentistry. Amber continues to attend classes to further her understanding of organ systems, pharmacology, and patient care. Amber loves working with dogs and cats. She has a tender bedside manners, attention to detail, and charismatic attitude with everything she does. Amber is currently the head technician on evenings during the week and works closely with Dr. Arbios.

    Holly is our Lead Receptionist at our Sunset location but can be found at our other locations from time to time.  She demonstrates compassion and caring  for you and your pet. If you need a project done, ask Holly.  She is great with Special Needs and requests.
