Doctor
Jay Griffiths,D.V.M. , Chief of Staff Dr. Griffiths has been in Veterinary Practice since 1985. He has developed a significant interest in surgery as well as advanced laser surgery techniques. Dr. Griffiths helped develop a unique declaw procedure * Phalangeal Disarticulation*. This technique especially when coupled with the Laser has significantly decreased post operative recovery time as well as complications.
Dr. Griffiths is married to Kathy and they have three children. Jennifer is 24 and works in San Francisco. Heather is 23 and also attends Hunter College in New York. J.J. is in 6th grade at Forrest Lake Christian School and aspires to be a Robot Maker or Veterinarian, this changes daily.
He and his family have Four dogs, three English Springer Spaniels * Cassie, 8 years, Logan 6 1/2 years, Faith 5 1/2 years, and a 7 year old Golden Retreiver named Cody. A nine year old Cat named Diamond keeps all the dogs in line. His son J.J. also has a bearded dragon named Sid.
John Robertson DVM, DACVS Dr Robertson is a board certified surgeon who has been on our staff for over ten years. Dr Robertson is one of the few surgeons in Northen California that is certified to perform TPLO (advanced anterior cruciate repair) surgeries. Dr Robertson's interests are advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.
Management
Kathy Griffiths Kathy is the Chief Financial Officer of the Animal Medical Centers of Sacramento. She supervises 6 locations to serve our customers and a staff of over 100 employees. Kathy joined Sunset Animal Medical Center in August of 2000. Her background is Corporate Sales and Marketing.
Cathy Boswell Cathy is our Corporate Accountant. She is responsible for Accounts Payable, Payroll and 401K.
Technician
Amber Ross , Registered Veterinary Technician Amber is a highly, skilled R.V.T., her interests are surgery and dentistry. Amber has completed specialized training in advanced dentistry and is adept in digital dental radiography as well as assisting doctors in advanced dental proceedures. Amber joined our staff in 2004 and plays a significant role in our high quality patient care.
Jamie Lemons , R.V.T. Jamie is a highly skill R.V.T. with interests in surgery and dentistry. Jamie oftens assists Dr. Griffiths with laser surgical proceedures. Jamie has taken advanced training in dental proceedures and is adept at digital dental radiography as well as assisting the doctors in advanced dental proceedures. Jamie joined our staff in 2000.
Deanna Bennet Deanna is a highly skilled veterinary technician with over eight years of experience. Deanna's interests include surgery. Deanna often assists the doctors in many of the advanced surgical proceedures. Deanna joined our staff in 2003.
Renee Lockrem Renee has been a member of our staff for over 8 years. Renee is a highly skilled technician and a key member of our evening staff. Renee is awesome at patient discharge instructions and medication demonstrations.
Ally Ally has been a valued member of our team since 2006. Ally excels as a patient coordinator. She is often the friendly face that will get the pre-exam vitals on the patients and will often call pet owners after surgery.
Reception
Holly Kolb Holly is our Head Morning Receptionist. She demonstrates compassion and caring for you and your pet. If you need a project done, ask Holly. She is great with Special Needs and requests.
Kennel
Robyn Robyn is our Kennel Manager. She supervises a staff of two to three full time adults. She takes great pride in keeping the kennels in tip top condition at all times. If you have not seen our Kennels, Robyn loves to give Kennel tours for new and exsisting clients. The kennels can have up to 90 animals lovingly cared for at any time.
